Agreed. The angry reactions show a disturbing degree of ignorance.

We know from multiple studies that touch is very important to a child's well being, both physical and emotional, and probably intellectual as well.

Meanwhile, children are forced to repeat lessons over and over until they are entirely bored with them, learning things by rote because the teachers themselves don't know the subject, and supposedly if we just make them do this more it will make them smarter, rather than just angrier.

But, in fairness, the adults making those ignorant comments are the products of the education methods they advocate - they cannot know better.
