It sounds like the plastic is there so that after numerous girls have tried on the swimsuit for a fit, the one buying it can remove the plastic and have a swimsuit that has not been tainted.

However, given that all the girls would have tried the suit on, including the purchaser, I'm not sure what the long term advantage would be. Perhaps various bacteria would survive longer in the cloth than on the plastic?

If anyone has other ideas. . . .
