Family honour?

Padma Patil, in private life Afshan Azad was threatened with death and actually bruised by her brother and father.

She is a Bengali Mohammedan, and was accused of having dated a Hindu boy.

Why did the parents attack their daughter and sister and not the boy concerned? Is it because they recognize she was indeed consenting, and therefore she was at fault for disobedience?

And was letting her do what she wanted dangerous for their family honour?
