My parents knew about me when I phoned them from jail the day or so after I got arrested. I am sure everyone was in shock for a day, but to my complete surprise, my father came all the way across the country to visit me and, again, to my complete surprise, he asked if I wanted him to get me a good ($$$) lawyer. I asked him if he knew what the charges were and he said, yes, he had read them. Still he offered the lawyer. (My Dad and I never got along much and I feared and despised him most of my life.) I told him that I was guilty as could be of all the charges. Since that day, he and I have become very much closer.

You can have all the "debates" you want, Catcher, with your parents. But make sure they know that your discussions will not be like me in a prison visiting room.

But, I am of like mind with Stahntii. Don't get into it with them unless they bring it up. It's your life and YOU are responsible for it. Fill it with things you want to treasure.
