I would see "us family know best, you government stay away" as undoubtedly conservative.

Unfortunately avowed "conservatives" who genuinely take that approach are thin enough on the grassroots level, and nigh nonexistent in positions of authority. Usually they will oppose government intervention in family life only when they and/or their constituents disagree with it.

The liberal position would be "you government know how we must raise the kids, so please tell us O Dear Leader". Or, if they were in power "we government know how you must raise your kids, so do it this way or else"

So for you the liberal position is the Nazi or Commie position. Alright. You basically use the term liberal to mean authoritarian progressive. This fits insofar as avowed "liberals" are statists. Unfortunately in practice avowed "conservatives" are no less likely to be statists than their "liberal" counterparts.
