Absolutely. When one finds that one has been going the wrong direction, the natural tendency is to change gears to reverse - but especially when it comes to newly arrived children who are only beginning their own life journeys and have not built up any momentum, the correct response is often to change gears to neutral. It is not terribly surprising that some parents projected their own needs onto their children.

I am already seeing signs of this.
