On the other hand, children develop their personalties in response to nurture as well as nature, so I can sympathize with the idea of the leftists that sexuality should be regarded with openness and without shame.
It was very interesting to read about how the sexual revolution related to pedophilia in Germany and the nature of the pedophile emancipation movement there. It's hard to find information on these things; most people presumably prefer to forget the days when all this was discussed somewhat more openly. Most of what is written seems to be concerning the Dutch movement.
It's fascinating how the boundaries of what's acceptable in public discourse change over time. Today, the prevailing negative views about pedophilia and child sexuality are accepted unquestionably, but only thirty or forty years ago at least a certain segment of society was open to having their minds changed. This gives me hope that we might once again experience a period of openmindedness not long from now, and that with the benefit of hindsight we'll achieve progress.
