For example, they start with the contemporary party line:
"The self-deception of these supposedly enlightened parents began when they tried to force an uninhibited relationship with sex on the children. In theory, their goal was to enable the children to act on their sexual needs. But because children are not spontaneously inclined to become sexually active in front of adults, they had to be stimulated to do so."
So, they say, "children are not spontaneously inclined to become sexually active in front of adults!" But a little further:
"It probably wasn't always easy for the adults, either, to be so free. Not everyone knew what to do when the children went from playing with themselves to fondling the adults."
and
"When the children entrusted to his care opened his fly and began stroking his penis, he writes, 'I was usually quite taken aback. My reactions varied, depending on the circumstances.'"
and again
"The records of a Stuttgart Kinderladen from December 1969 include an account by a mother who suddenly found several children reaching under her skirt."
The 1960's radicals were certainly victims of self-deception, but so are the authors of this article.
Of course, it should also be noted that some of the examples given regarding the conduct of some adults who attempted to teach free sexuality to children are - if not reprehensible, at least wildly misguided. Asking a girl to undress in front of company and then mocking her when she hesitates to comply is certainly abusive - though, despite what antis will say, far less abusive than, say, murder.
It appears that these early experimenters pushed the whole sex thing much too hard, instead of simply allowing children to be themselves - and whether a parent punishes masturbation or requires it, it is notable that in both cases the parent is pushing their own agenda on their child, in a part of their life which should be entirely their prerogative.
