a) A child walked in one day and asked the statue on the left, behind which sat a priest:
"Who sitteth next to thee?" The reply was: "The God of Truth"

b) Then the child went to the statue in the middle and asked: "Who art thou?"
"I am the God of Diplomacy" came the reply.

c) Finally, the child went to the last statue and inquired: "Who is that in the middle?"
"That is the God of Falsehood" was the answer.

There are six combinations:
1. TRUTH FALSEHOOD DIPLOMACY
2. DIPLOMACY TRUTH FALSEHOOD
3. FALSEHOOD DIPLOMACY TRUTH
4. TRUTH DIPLOMACY FALSEHOOD
5. FALSEHOOD TRUTH DIPLOMACY
6. DIPLOMACY FALSEHOOD TRUTH

All but the last one are impossible combinations.
1. This is an impossible combination because the God of Truth is on the left. See question (a)
2. This is an impossible combination because the God of Truth would not claim himself to be the God of Diplomacy. See question (b)
3. This is an impossible combination because the God of Truth would have reported the middle God to be the God of Diplomacy. See question (c)
4. This is an impossible combination because The God of Truth (on the left) would not claim the God sitting next to him was the God of Truth. See question (a)
5. This is an impossible combination because The God of Falsehood would lie; however, he would not have been lying if the God of Truth was, in fact, in the middle. See question (a)
6. The God of Diplomacy chose to lie in this instance, saying the God of Truth was in the middle. The God of Falsehood, who was, indeed, in the middle, lied, as scheduled, by claiming himself to be the God of Diplomacy. The God of Truth, the last statue, told the truth, as scheduled, saying that the God of Falsehood was, in fact, in the middle. This is the only possible combination that fits the puzzle’s requirements.
