This is the Christian right moving in, with their Nazi ideas - make no mistake.

Actually, some conservative Christians would be appalled at the idea of forcing girls to wear trousers, as dressing like a member of the opposite sex is forbidden by the Bible. A fair number interpret this as forbidding girls from wearing trousers or shorts - and I knew at least one large Christian school that forbade its female students from wearing other than skirts or dresses, even when playing sports. They did not prevent their female students from participating in events with other schools, but they all wore knee-length skirts (or perhaps more like skorts) while doing it.

Personally, I'm in favor of banning skirts and replacing them with nothing, but that's just me.
