I can just see people wanting to put us in front of those firing squads.

Nope. Each state has its own authorized execution methods. And the method, if there is a choice, is made by the row inmate, not by the judge or jury. Personally, if I was executed, I'd prefer the squad to both the injection and the chair. But that is just me.

This is likely going to cause people-in-general to become more aggressive and to want to see death up close and personal.

Nope again. Each state has slightly different rules about who can watch an execution - but every state has now made them a private affair between the inmate and the victim's direct relatives. You cannot just present yourself at the premise and ask to see.

I fear this aggresssion may soon get aimed directly at us, eventually. Do you think it will? And do you think this rise in aggression will cause laws regarding our peds to become yet even more draconian?

I actually see a low in aggression these days. Maybe the economic woes of almost everywhere have made people forget the important stuff, like Afghan terrorists, drugs and pedophilia.

I don't think officials should be given the right to kill people. After all, 2 wrongs don't make a right, right?

I think when you murder(*), you renounce your own right to life.

OTOH, I don't think any existing judicial system is good enough to grant that the death penalty will be applied fairly.

I am willing to admit this practical argument in a policy debate. But in the theory I am completely convinced of the death penalty.

(*) Not every taking of a life is murder, of course.

And all it will do is create an appetite for death in the mouths of our officials.

I am not that sure. China executes many more than the USA, but although it is more repressive, I sincerely cannot say its officials are more bloodthirsty than American officials.
