Lindsay wasn't from Columbia, but he did live there for a time. I have to say, he lived in one of the cities with the highest cutie density in the whole world.
Whistling at a 12 year old might be less likely to leave a man with a black eye or worse,
Not by age, certainly - but Latin American societies are also more protective of their own (more "tribal", for want of a better term). If the girl or someone she is with, or, particularly, any boyfriend she might have, see this as disrespectful, you are going to get a black eye. OTOH, that is not linked to age: that will happen with a 32 as good as with a 12. And the upside is that, unlike many North American girls and women, most LatAm girls and women do consider it flattering, instead of creepy, to be recognized as cute / pretty / hot / sexy - and again, regardless of age. So the threshold for "disrespectful" is also higher than in the mainstream White USA.
Does anyone here seriously believe someone with pedophilia as their primary attraction doesn't face discrimination in such countries?
Certainly.
And American-inspired propaganda and hysteria don't help.
Add in Catholic scandals, Protestant Christian preaching into former Catholic heartlands, and women's and children's rights org's and government agencies taken over by Victimist Feminists, and the picture is gloomy. Of course, not yet there, and not yet irreversible. After all, countries where politicians have been proven pedophilic and not lost office have a long way to go to match what Florida did to Foley and does everyday to her own RSOs.
