...that I have several friends who have teen daughters, as well as a few teen girls in my family. I have never considered giving up my challenge to society as a result of this. The big picture is just too big to ignore in favor of a personal nest egg, as far as I am concerned. Though I believe it's necessary in a few cases for an out MAA to avoid getting too involved in the bigger picture due to family circumstances, my personal situation has never shown it to be necessary to give up on activism simply to assuage family members or to smooth things over within the bounds of my family. There are just too many people depending on the success of this activism, including but certainly not limited to the youths we love, for me to confine my concerns to simply making life smoother for me in my family. I think the bigger picture should be at least considered before someone chooses to greatly scale back their concerns, because activism touches the lives of potentially millions, whereas working to smooth things over in a single family only encompasses a few people, and the concerns of these few may not outweigh the needs of millions.
