The Scandinavians live in several countries, and live under slightly different forms of government. All the same, their societies have many common characteristics, which sometimes permit of them being spoken of as a group - even the Finns, who have some stark differences from the others, particularly in language.

Speaking of Scandinavian society is much like speaking of Celtic society, even though there is no place called Celtia.
