Western society really only pays a kind of lip-service to equality in that outsider groups are only accepted to a degree so long as they are willing to play the Game.
To paraphrase George Carlin:

"When I see Women and Blacks joining in to become another bunch of Fort-Builders, I know the situation is Hopeless."
