You seem to assume that nearly every parent sees the state as working in support and as one with them. But count me right out of that. The state is my complete enemy and always was.

Parents and the state usually do not knock heads. They must often reinforce each others' control over kids and form a reciprocal relationship.

Without the state to enforce parental authority, it would be far more difficult to do things such as retrieve your kids if they ran away from home, or to force your kids to turn over any money they earned over to you, or to force your kids not to sign a contract.
