I don't think you truly realize how deep in decay we are right now. With a national deficit in the trillions, with on going wars and political corruption seeping out of every pore, the constant trampling on our freedoms from the patriot act, to torture and indefinite detentions, to the catastrophic ecological disasters such as the recent one on the Gulf of Mexico. We are heading toward collapse real quick. It is very likely we'll see a military dictatorship within our life times.
