Most parents have no idea of their kids' sex lives precisely because their kids do not tell them about it and sneak around for sexual activity. This is because they know their parents would punish them if they told them they were sexually experimenting. If parental power didn't exist, it's possible that many more kids would be coming to their parents for advice and support on this subject.

As for the school situation...I know few parents who disagree with the concept of compulsory education. Even home schoolers do this at the insistence of the state, and few parents argue against compulsory education. I believe that education should be subsidized, but the state should not have control over the curriculum or the production of textbooks. Parents already have enough expenses to deal with in a capitalist system, and I think education should be a right, not a privilege.
