A question (completely OT)

For the Americans at this board.

Many Americans I met on various boards seem to be reluctant to leave the USA and travel other places, especially if they are not English spoken.
Also met many who haven't got the slightest idea how the world outside USA looks like.

Am i wrong here or is it my misinterpretation?

Like many Dutch I speak a reasonable amount of languages (mostly very basic), but it was never a reason to avoid any country whose language is completely unknown to me.

My travels trough Turkey and remote areas in the Philippines in the past come to mind, communicating with just gestures can be so much fun :-)

Next vacation is pretty obvious (again Greece), but when A. is a bit older I would love to visit Japan and China with her.
