Reading the literature of the Socialist Labor Party did indeed polish and inform my beliefs further. I simply came to the conclusion that a system based on money was a bad idea based on all the problems it causes before ever learning of original socialism; reading the wider literature of original socialism helped me further formulate my views.

I agree that no system would ever be perfect, and that no silver bullet would exist, but I continue to believe (as I had for a long time) that a system that didn't run on money and didn't have a market of any kind where all products and services existed as commodities to be sold for the private profit of the few, would take care of the problems of poverty, war, and other conflicts over control of resources, as well as greatly diminishing crime and the need to impose order by force (which would effectively eliminate the need for a state). As you know, I don't agree that capitalism meets the needs of everyone most of the time, but rather only serves the interests of the handful of people who own the industries and services, with all ethical considerations taking a back seat to the "bottom line."
