Nowadays I guess "legning" (orientation) and "å lene" (to lean) are two totally different words. "Legning" is used only with orientation or to have a strong tendencey towards something. "Å lene" can be used when leaning to someone/thing, and when descirbing opinions. Legning is not used with the meaning/word "å lene" to lean.

But maybe originally they come from the same word.

I don`t know.

Lene is a female name, too. Lena is more common, I guess.
