You've really hit on something with those observations. It makes me consider that vulnerability and our awareness of it may be one of the major differences between children and adults at least in a negative sense. That moment of awareness of how much another person can mean to you brings about the fear that your feelings might not be reciprocated: So as people grow old (Ugh) they may become distant if they cannot make peace with that vertigo-inducing sense of Vulnerability. We all have it, yet I've seen too many Women in my age range who hide their feelings to an off-putting extent. There are no clear cues, or any reciprocation of your energy. While before a certain age, people lack a degree of awareness of how to veil their feelings, or even better, they don't bother to hide their feelings at all. There may be no more moving sound than hearing the voice of a Little Girl professing their affection for you without reservation. What could be more Endearing?
