My time with puppet show girl! :)
Posted by CatcherintheRye on 2010-June-04 23:44:13 EDT, FridayI only got to spend four days with her out of my whole trip, but it was still nice. She's an eight year old blonde cutie that is my little cousin in case anyone doesn't already know.
The first day I got to her place, I was waiting for her to get home from school. The last time I saw her was August, and I wasnt sure if she had changed much since then. I was worried maybe she didnt want to spend as much time with me as she use to, or if shed be happy to see me at all. Well all those concerns vanished as soon as she came in the door :)
Right away she ran to me, and gave me a big hug! Then she gave the rest of my family hugs as well. Her Grandmother told everyone that when they were outside about to come in, puppet show girl told her she was going to attack me first. Heehee!
When she was done giving everyone else a hug, she came back to me and gave me a second hug, and told me she missed me! As you can imagine by now I was quite delighted. Right away she asked me if I wanted to go play, just like no time had passed at all. We went down to her basement playroom and she started taking all of these costumes out of a bin to show me. She wasnt sure what she wanted to play at first, then she decided on robbers
She took out some monopoly money, and laid these real bracelets on these coasters on a coffee table. Apparently I was suppose to be a security guard at a museum that had fallen asleep, and she would come in and take the stuff. So I sat down in a chair and started making snoring noises, while she grabbed the fake money and bracelets. Then she came back in the room, and pretended to be my boss reprimanding me for falling asleep on the job. Apparently the owner of the museum is British because she put on an accent, haha.
Later that evening we spent some time in her backyard. She told me sometimes a toad shows up that she catches and keeps for awhile. We couldnt find it so instead we spent some time trying to catch bugs in a jar. She kept calling this one grasshopper Greeny as shed try to quickly close the lid on it. She caught it, we showed it to everybody, and then we kindly let it go. Then we noticed her dog trying to get at something in the bushes. It was the toad! We put the little brown creature in a bucket and showed it to everyone as well before letting it go. They all thought it was really cute.
Later that evening the family went on a walk through her neighborhood to go see the new house close by that my girl would be moving into soon. She was on her bike and I had a hard time catching up with her. If she got to far ahead of us out of sight, shed always ride back to see where we were. Eventually she needed to rush home to use the bathroom, so I volunteered to go on ahead with her so she could get home quicker. Luckily she knew the way, because all the houses looked the same to me and I had no idea where we were going.
Towards the end of the night, me and her just watched TV down in her basement. I sat on the couch while she sat on this little mattress for kids in front of the TV, eating her chips. I wasnt sure if she cared if I was there at all, but at one point I got up to go upstairs and she asked where are you going? It was so sweet :)
The next day, we were all taking her little sister to her first ever soccer game. Puppet show girl borrowed her moms camera to take pictures. We quickly got bored of the game and took a walk up to this graveyard nearby. She took a few shots of me pretending to be a zombie, then we started finding names on the graves that were the same names of family members. Shed make a little recording of the graves and tell the camera how freaked out she was that it was a name she knew!
After the soccer game, we all went to a big farm type place frequented by tourists. There lots of cute horses and cows to look at. Following that we went to a big mall, and my girl wanted to go to the Lego store. There was a place to build your own lego car, and race them down a ramp. I just built a wacky random car that would just fall to pieces at the bottom, but she actually put some thought into hers, so naturally she won every race. She then had me add up the prices of different lego sets for her, so shed know how much it would cost in total for the stuff she wanted. It was all way to expensive! hehheh
Anyway, this is getting kind of long, so Ill tell you all about the next to days in another post. Tah tah for now!
