Yes, it sounds fair to disclaim that.
How would you actually pull it?? Only through fair rules of evidence; which take some time and professionality to apply. The evident conflict of interest in the parent prevents the professionality; the "in the heat of the moment" prevents the time to gather and analyse evidence properly.
I don't have to claim that the gubmint will do it any better, and we know it many times doesn't even care to. All I have to do is show you that this one father didn't do it, and that most parents (as all Sancho, KBA and Henny proved) wouldn't be able to do it either.
Mistrust of the government shouldn't translate into automatic trust for anything private. If anything, mistrust in government stems from mistrust in private persons (Thank you James Madison!!). Government would have no problems if private people were all highly ethical, intelligent and open-minded. Most people is only one of the above, at best. Myself I am only two of the above.
