There has been an ongoing discussion here on the subject of "Separation of Church & State"; some posters contend that the founding fathers never really had that in mind. Absurd, of course.

It all started with a thread that linked to BBC's report of the Texas School Board approving changes to their schoolbooks that would, in effect, rewrite history. These changes would be incorporated in the textbooks for almost all other states as well, since publishers are reluctant to publish more than one version of a book if they can avoid it.

The real question, which no one has mentioned as yet, is why Texas doesn't simply secede from the union and leave the rest of us alone?
