Wow this seams to have found some differances of opinion... arr but maybe thats a point. It seams to me quite human to defend ones children and pain would be a real trigger for we are reactional thats what we are. To be expected to just calmly call the police ect is a little unrealistic.
Now bashing the perpertrator silly is not what I would see as a good thing just understandable, and to not take this into account would seem akin to suggesting we somehow have a right to mold humans by law into something more socialably acceptable.I know this sounds a bit silly since we do it all the time but I trust you understand what I mean in this context. In that world I wonder who may be first into the mold and the press turned on!
The whole event was just awful, but I think the law done the best it could with the mess. As to the point that a precedent or such has been set, so far in Australia we have limited the power of precedents. They have too much of a tendency to lump post cases as all simular, instead of looking a then indirvidually. Anyway thats just my take.
