I guess his reaction was not proportional, but personally I would have done the same when someone molested my child like this.

Same with a burglar in my house,I would beat the crap out of him regardless the consequences for me.

It's an instinctive reaction to protect your children and property, glad the father got away with it.

Guess I'm not exactly a pacifist..
