"Deadliest Warrior" returns on April 20 on Spike. First up, "Attila the Hun vs. Alexander the Great." Infantry vs. cavalry. Spear vs. bow and arrow. Cavalry can be defeated with a very discipline infantry as shown by Charles Martel. The second episode is, "Nazi SS vs Viet Cong." Discipline vs. improvisation. The "elite of the elite" vs. the peasant soldier. I'll admit I'm short of information on this one. The Viet Cong tactics worked until Gen. Creighton Abrams took over from Gen. William Westmoreland. Also, it depends if they use individuals (as they did with Green Beret vs Spetsnaz) or with a group (as they did with IRA vs Taliban). The SS and Viet Cong were very disciplined groups. Also, if you didn't read Dante's post on his GL film awards, you might want to check out "Lymelife"(with tv listings: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363780/) on cable this month. You'll see a different side of Emma Roberts and a bit more of her (if that wasn't a body double) It always seems to be the Nick girls who move quickly to more mature roles. Sincerely, Shaper of Worlds ![]() We are the music makers, And we are the dreamer of dreams, Wandering by lone sea-breakers, And sitting by desolate streams; World-losers and world-forsakers, On whom the pale moon gleams: Yet we are the movers and shakers Of the world for ever, it seems. --Arthur O'Shaughnessy |
