Do you expect gc to use your taste of what is exceptional. It's kinda hard, ya know. Admin can't please everyone. And putting it up for vote would just be way too much to handle. Since not everyone's idea of exceptionally cute/pretty, is the same. You see, my friend?
I believe they chose a nice safe middleground, that rarely a gc'er (you, being an exception) will express having a problem with it.
