I recommend Tor. You can install it on your system (make sure you also get Privoxy or Polipo) and use Torbutton to turn it on and off in Firefox, or you can download a bundled Tor, Polipo, and web browser like OperaTor.

Tor can be pretty slow sometimes, and it doesn't anonymize things like Flash and Java, but for a site like Girl Chat it works very well.
