Blame English grammar. Since English doesn't have a true imperative for "they" or even a desiderative, supine or subjunctive that can act as such, I have to use "let".

If he has friends and acquaintances who are concerned about what he's doing, then he should remove those people from his life.
The only reason it could be perceived that he is 'asking for trouble' is because most people don't accept that type of relationship. Most people are extremely ignorant and unintelligent, so what most people think should be irrelevant to any individual who is reasonably intelligent.

Again, the only reason this is dangerous is because of the currently existing social mores/laws that are in place in this society; there is nothing inehrently wrong with what this man is doing.

The fact that they are intolerant and unintelligent doesn't mean they don't have the power to destroy the lives of everyone involved. A simple accusation, even if false, even if it doesn't even make it to the police or courts and stays as a rumour, or even if there is a favourable verdict in court; would destroy the lives of the man, the girl, and both their families.

Why is it that you think this again? Is it because most people are against this type of relationship? Need I remind you again that most people are extremely unintelligent/ignorant?

I think this because even if they are unintelligent and ignorant, they can still destroy your and her life.

I have no problems about my life destroyed. I have many problems about hers destroyed.
