This was a great reply, Sui. One of the goals of youth liberationists is to end age segregation in society, not exacerbate it in any way. Part of the goal is to eliminate the very concept of adolescence from society, so that those we now call adolescents are once again simply considered young adults. As for actual children, they will still be acknowledged as children rather than treated as miniature adults, but they will have a much greater degree of freedom and opportunity in such a society, including the dignity of a democratic form of education. Again, the goal of youth liberationists is not to separate any of these kids from adults but simply to eliminate the type of near full control over their lives that just two people have (i.e., their two biological sires) and to provide kids who are extremely unhappy at home the opportunity for alternative living arrangements. Nevertheless, adults will continue to be a major part of childrens' lives in a youth liberated society, and it will be expected that children look up to adults they trust and admire for guidance and advice. When adults are nothing more than austere authority figures to children, as you aptly referred to them as, then children are often afraid to tell them certain things out of fear of being punished or having what little freedom they are allowed to be further curtailed. We need a society that builds more trust and respect between adults and children.
