Hmmm…

Regardless of what everyone else has said, which is true and sensible…

Regardless of the fact that I don't think anything of what has happened, if the narration is truthful, should be considered wrong or even inappropriate…

FFS, the guy is being really dumb!! And her parents too!!!

If the guy wants to talk and text with an 11yo girl, let them do it in private!! If the parents approve of the relationship, I don't even see an issue about hiding stuff from parents!!

But if they have been so public as to have his wife write a letter, and as to have his acquaintances realise their friendship and "voice their concerns", they (meaning him and the girl's parents) are only asking for trouble!!! They are half a step from accusations, and accusations are a one-way ticket to hell. For the girl and for her parents too. Hey, even for the Concerned Mother and their two kids themselves!!

This is why I don't think we should be making friends with any child at all.

But if you are, and all the more so if you have parental approval about it, you should at least be the least public possible about it.
