Re: About Bullying--My Thoughts

This is a really great post, Dissy. I'd like to add some stuff in here based on personal experience.

I can verify that the bullies do tend to befriend teachers and other officials. I've seen it happen. Mainly in high school. I believe that this is an attempt at reducing the punishment for their outlandish actions. This couldn't be more true in the case of the douchebag who told security guards at my high school that I was plotting a Columbine-esque attack on the school. The same period he did that, I was hauled down to the security office. I got a chance to dispell the lie rather quickly, but I also used it as a chance to try and get some points across. I brought up the fact that I've seen bullies like the one who lied about me paling around with the security guards and that it just seemed like an attempt to reduce punishment due to friendship. They told me that thats not how things worked around here which I didn't believe for a second. I then addressed the point of why I was brought down to the office in such a hurry. I told them that it figueres, an average looking student waved a fictional flag on someone like me, so of course they'd believe him. I asked them ('them' in this situation being the head of security and his two goons that he had positioned behind me) if it were a student NOT wearing a leather jacket with a predominately black wardrobe, if they'd even look into it at all. I then got a chance to reveal to them the true antagonists on the cases of school shootings. The bullies. If bully victims didn't feel so tortured on a daily basis, they wouldnt snap and decide to kill their torturers. Instead, the media blames it on what the shooter wears and the music he listens to. I told them I'm bullied all the time by those that I see them paling around with and that if they wanted to address a threat to the school, to bring in the one who lied to them about me. They let me go and said they'd call him down to have a talk. I found out at a later time that they never did. Fucked up? I think so.
