I knew Bill from my time spent at LL. He dealt with a lot of adversity as a result of his attraction to boys. I knew he was seriously ill for a while now, and he accepted the realization that his passing on was imminent with a lot of courage and dignity. People can say what they want about MAAs, but we are capable of dealing with all sorts of adversity that the "normal," well accepted person in society can scarcely dream of, and for Bill, the knowledge that his own death was just a few months away was easy for him to deal with in comparison to the decades he spent dealing with the hatred and lack of understanding that society has for adults who are attracted to those individuals who are legally considered "minors."

Let us all be inspired by Bill's courage and tenacity in the face of his own death, and let us work harder towards achieving progress and understanding not only for this community and the youth community we love, but for all human beings on this planet.

As for Bill...though I have no proof that there is an afterlife, if there is one (and I personally believe there is), I am confident that his spirit is now in a place where he will receive the widespread love and acceptance that he was denied in life. Take care, Bill, thank you for the friendship and comaradarie you gave me during our talks in LL, your pain is now over and may you now achieve the peace you so greatly deserve.
