I think you're thinking of the case where a couple got married (completely legally) in Kansas because their home state of Nebraska didn't allow it for those under the magic age of 17. The attorney general of Nebraska brought charges against the husband Matthew Koso, likely for political reasons, and got the "dangerous pervert" locked up for 18-30 months after pressuring Mr. Koso into a plea bargain (and he could have gotten 50 years if he didn't bow to the pressure), undoubtedly putting a severe strain on his wife and child. Not too mention the joys of being a sex offender. The information about him on Nebraska's sex offender website isn't going to mention that this "dangerous offender" had consensual sex with his wife. The only thing the Nebraska attorney general achieved was to destroy a young family and take away Mr. Koso's ability to provide the best life he could have for his family. And all because he dared to love someone younger than himself. But at least many people seemed sane enough to realize how stupid charging and convicting Mr. Koso was, and were willing to openly criticize the government's persecution of him.
