Like apple said, you don't have to post an introduction. However, it is what posters usually do. Something along the lines of: "Hello all, I'm so glad I found this place, I look forward to future conversations."

Sometimes new posters tell everyone a little bit about themselves, but preferably not nearly enough that they could be identified.

But, you wouldn't be the first that just jumped into conversation.
