I'm not blaming anyone for misinterpreting or underestimating the dangers involved. However, we advise everyone to read the FAQ, and that and many discussions on the board highlight the many dangers we face.

What is more, the prevailing opinion here has always been that the APA and other "professionals", and of course the vigilantes and other professional haters, are not at all interested in the truth or human kindness, nor are they open to reason or any kind of persuasion not involving a gun.

In fact, the only posts here that I have seen accusing the psychological professions (as a whole - not including a few rarities) of kindness or intelligence are your own, and likewise with vigilantes and other haters.

If anyone is putting new posters in danger by giving them the impression that such people are reasonable or just, it is you.

Fortunately, I think most will not make such a mistake.

Like I said, I do not blame you or anyone else for making such a mistake. I attach the blame squarely where it belongs - on the vigilantes and quacks who lack intellectual honesty, civility, and empathy. Nevertheless, there have been plenty of warnings, and if someone makes such a mistake they do bear most of the responsibility for it.
