I can actually see where Marutoph is coming from, though I think his perspective is deeply flawed.

Many times when new posters have come here there have been discussions about the nature of pedophilia, the true meaning of the word "pedophilia" (as opposed to the common misperceptions), et cetera.

I can imagine that a few people could manage to look at all this and ignore the reality (never denied here) that for the moment we are a small minority that is much hated and feared by an ignorant, fearful, and hateful public. The fact that most pedophiles have not yet come to terms with their own attraction, and that those who have are not in a situation where they can safely announce this publicly is a major impediment to societal acceptance, but if a newcomer were able to manage to avoid a full understanding of this fact, then they might persuade themselves that they can safely be "out".

Of course, such a conclusion is not merited at this time and many warnings are made on this board to this effect, but if the new poster chooses to ignore all those warnings and focuses only on what they want to hear, they may arrive at a false conclusion. Then, after suffering the results of their misunderstanding, they may prefer to blame others rather than themself.

Of course, this is not the end of the world. We have a number of people here who are "out", and though most have had some negative experiences as a result, including some physical attacks, so far all have survived. This is a necessary stage, unfortunately, but I would not suggest that anyone take this burden upon themselves - especially if they are young and have hopes for the future. We will have enough outed peds regardless, and once a person is out they are out. For quite some time we will need many more activists who can remain in the toy box and influence opinion in other ways.
