I was doing a search on Wikipedia on chronophilia and teleiophilia and noticed a pretty screwed up way they saw HEBEPHILIA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teleiophilia

For a start, they seem to differentiate between hebephilia and ephebophilia. A new one on ME! I had always understood the two as being the SAME--just spelling variants.

They define 'hebephilia' as an attraction towards 'pubescent children". LOL. This is a total contradiction in terms! They don't seem to understand that once someone is pubescent, they are no longer a CHILD!!

Furthermore they seem to isolate out 'ephebophilia' as an attraction towards those "in mid- to late adolesence, usually 15-19 years old". Er, I wouldn't even define that age bracket as "adolescent" ANYWAY. It's too old. I have always referred to it as simply "young adulthood", and I remember when I was 15 never DREAMING that anyone would regard me as a mere 'adolescent', and I know that if I hypothetically DID encounter it I would have been quite insulted and considered it derogatory.

Another thing is that they define "paedophilia" as still being different to all the other 'philias' "in that it is a clinically-recognized disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders." Well I'm not sure if they are right or not on this one, but I thought paedophilia was expunged from the DSM as a "mental disorder" a few years back--it might remain a sociological problem, but no longer a 'psychiatric' condition...but maybe I got my wires crossed somewhere?
