I remember that the phrase "child molester" used to be in general currency before the 1990's..."pedophile" was a word hardly ever used by the media. I can still remember most people having no idea what a 'paedophile' was in the late 80's! One of my friends thought it was some species of dinosaur, lol.

However, shortly after this in the early 90's the word "pedophile" came into huge use and "child molester" fell out of general usage in many circles including the media. But I've noticed lately that "child molester" seems to have come back into use again. Don't know if anyone else here might have noticed this? Of course, I'm not sure whether the interchangeability of those two terms really means anything.
