A common argument against child porn is that it "reinforces the perversion", or something to that ilk. I usually make the case that even if that were true, all assumptions aside, would there not be much more solace in knowing that all them daggone pervos have the option of getting their jollies off in the privacy of their own homes, instead of saying "Ahhh well, no visual outlets, everything's illegal, may as well get what I can get" and choose to rape? I usually ask them, would that not therefore make incidents happen less?
Unfortunately, the safety of children are an afterthought to the pure hatred of pedophilia, so no one would dare accept the notion that legalizing the possession of CP would make the world a better place, despite it being made plain to them. -JC |
