*sigh* Today's Oprah show is apparently going to be about "online stalkers" and children. So, you might want to consider this post as either a reminder, or a warning not to watch if you want to keep your sanity. The temptation to watch is strong, but the advertisement made is pretty clear that it is probably going to be another pedophile bashing session. The odd thing was the two examples they gave...one was about a girl talked into meeting some guy at a mall who kidnapped her at knifepoint. The other is about the girl from Florida who (yes they really described it this way) was "brainwashed" into believing she was in love with that guy in (Italy or Greece) and flew there to be with him for several months before they were tracked down. I just sat there for a second blinking. Neither of these cases look like "stalking" to me. Am I missing something?
Also, how can I force myself not to watch it and start yelling at the fat woman on my screen? I can already guess the usual route the show will take...the crying mother, the dramatised recreation of the evil violent guy they will use as an example of a pedophile, and the cop with a mustache who will get to define what a pedophile is and what a typical pedophile does. I don't want to watch, but I hope someone else tells me about it later.
